Stewardship Board


Door Creek Church is governed by a nine-member Stewardship Board including our Lead Pastor. The Board members are elected to three-year terms by members of the church.

Darren Boyer - updated 1/13 

Darren Boyer
Darren and his wife Kristi have lived in Madison and attended Door Creek Church since 2003.  They have three young children, Hannah, Hope and Will that keep them busy.  Darren works at Meriter Hospital as a Human Resources Manager.

While attending Door Creek Church, Darren has been a small group leader, served on the Journey Ministry leadership team, and volunteered in God's Garden.  He has a heart for the disadvantaged, missions, and singles.

Darren enjoys spending time with his family, friends and developing his handyman skills around the house.  Originally from Illinois, Darren remains a loyal Chicago Bears and Cubs fan - the eternal optimist.



Ron Davenport
Ron Davenport and his wife of 22 years, Rhonda, and children Dominick and Jade have lived in Cambridge since 2007.  They have been attending Door Creek for the last four years and he has been very active in Financial Peace University classes.  They moved here from Reno, Nevada where they attended  Grace church.  It was there where Ron’s walk with God grew and he realized God’s grace, mercy, faithfulness and love.  Ron has a passion for building spiritually into men’s lives.  He still leads a men’s bible study with men from Reno with a Saturday morning conference call.  He also likes to help families grow in their understanding of God’s principles for financial and personal stewardship.  Ron enjoys running and spending time with his family. 

Brian Gabrielse

Brian Gabrielse
Brian has lived in Madison since 1980. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jen, for 27 years. They have 3 children; Stephanie, Jeffrey and Kimberly. Stephanie and Jeffrey were both married this summer. Brian worked as a partner at a local construction firm for 25 years until his retirement in 2006. Over the years, Brian has served appointments on various boards and associations within the Christian community here in Dane County. 

Brian loves outdoor activities such as skiing, hunting, boating, and biking, as well as working on cars and mechanical things. Brian and his wife, Jen, have a passion for hospitality, as well as the encouragement of others.

Since coming to Door Creek in the summer of 2006 Brian has been involved with the Men’s Fraternity group, Boomerangs, and Home Groups.  A highlight for Brian was a mission trip to Guatemala. Brian and his wife have been members of Door Creek Church for 3 years.

Stearns, Scott 

Scott Stearns
Scott and his wife Lisa have been in Madison and at Door Creek Church for over 20 years along with their three children William, Mallory and Sarah.  Scott works as an environmental engineer, specializing in water treatment, at a local consulting firm. 

At Door Creek, Scott is involved with the Alpha course (introduction to Christianity) where he has the privilege to witness life change through the power of the Holy Spirit. Scott enjoys watching the Packers, socializing with friends, outdoor activities and exploring the ever-changing Madison food scene.

 Tennant, Michelle

Michelle and her three children, Dosty, Andrew, and Ellie Everts, have been attending Door Creek Church since they moved to Madison in 2001. Michelle began serving in children's and youth ministries. She assisted in various roles including Shadow, Teacher, and L-Desk Coordinator. Most recently Michelle volunteered at The Rock and Care Partners. The family served together as Greeters and supporting families in The Road Home. 

Her spiritual gifts are encouragement, mercy and compassion. Her passion is to share God’s love to hurting people, whether it’s physical, spiritual, emotional and/or mental challenges.

Michelle retired in 2012 from her 28-year IT career where American Express and American Family were her primary Employers. Michelle participates in Adaptive Exercise classes at the UW and Water Therapy at the MGHS pool, cheers her children on in life, and maintains her “porch garden”.

Marty Knott

Marty Knott
Martha (Marty) and her husband, Earl, have lived in Cottage Grove and been attending Door Creek/Buckeye for over 30 years. They have four children and ten grandchildren.  Marty has served DCC in a number of capacities. Presently she is involved with Saturday night suppers and the counting team. She served on the Stewardship Board from 2002 to 2008.  Marty and her husband have a passion for serving and hospitality.  She is currently retired so that gives her time to pursue other activities. Marty enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and her hobbies include quilting, traveling, and cooking.

Tom Lynch

Tom Lynch
Tom has been married to Melody Lynch for 22 years.  Together they have four children; Chris, Kaitlin, Carolyn, and Tessa and live in Madison’s near east side.  Tom became a Christian at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo through a campus ministry.  He later joined the staff of the Navigators as he and his wife ministered to college students at Eastern Illinois University.  Tom later obtained a second engineering degree and started working as an engineer for Strand Associates in Madison WI.  He and his family have attended Buckeye/Door Creek since 1993 where he has been active teaching in both men’s and children’s ministries.  Tom loves central Madison and looks forward to Door Creek continuing to influence urban Madison.  He enjoys backpacking, biking, running, and most outdoor


Inga Werginz

Inga Werginz
Inga lives in Stoughton with her husband, Brad, and daughter, Maren.  She works as an occupational therapist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital where she primarily cares for patients with cancer and patients who are critically ill.  Inga and Brad began attending Door Creek in 2004, drawn to the church because of the ways that they saw Door Creek serving in the community.  Inga joined the Community Outreach Triad in 2006.  It has been really special for her to see how the church has continued to engage with, provide for, and care for Madison and the surrounding communities.  Some of the passions that God has placed on Inga’s heart include outreach and service, ministering to those who are suffering from catastrophic loss, and helping people connect with Christian community.  Inga also enjoys cooking, gardening, and traveling with family when she isn’t chasing her very busy 22-month-old.

Lisa Koch Schuster              

Lisa lives in Madison with her husband, Michael, and their golden retriever, Sadie Mae.  Michael and Lisa began attending Door Creek in 2002.  Lisa has worked in education for 19 years teaching both elementary students and adults.  She is passionate about the needs in Madison and has a deep heart for building cross-cultural relationships.  Since 2007 she has been faithfully serving in Outreach primarily at Boomerangs and in North Madison.
