Advent Conspiracy 2011 - Update

Jan 19th

     AC2011

In December we took an Advent Conspiracy offering to bring hope to people living in poverty in Madison and around the world.  We committed ourselves to rebel against our cultural norm and celebrate the Advent season by Spending Less so we could Give More and show our Love for all people.

The Door Creek family responded to this call in a powerful way; we collected over $130,000.  This is 63% more than last year’s Advent Conspiracy offering – which will allow us to do much more. Many people will benefit from your generous giving either directly or through faith based organizations we are partnering with: World Relief (helping those in East Africa with famine relief); Vision Trust (helping many children through two different schools); our sister churches in Monrovia, Liberia and in Sumpango, Guatemala; The River Food Pantry; The Salvation Army; and finally, those who will be served by a ministry center right in our own backyard.

We also hope that by Giving More to those in need your family was able to eliminate some of the busyness of the season and you were able to Give More time to one another.  If your family experienced the joy of spending more quality time together or of serving together in the community as a result of Advent Conspiracy, please let us know.  We would love to hear your story of how God is using Advent Conspiracy to grow you and/or your family.  Send your story to Amy Ward at
