Since 1985, the year it was established, Care Net has helped more than 7,000 womenCare Net Logo with unplanned pregnancies by reaching out to their families and partners. A licensed medical clinic, Care Net provides all services, ultrasounds, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV, women’s health services, childbirth education classes, care classes on parenting education and support, as well as abortion recovery services. The Elizabeth House is located upstairs from Care net, and is a nine month Christian residential maternity program for pregnant single women in crisis.  It is supported through Care Net.  Elizabeth House is staffed by house parents who provide counseling services and support to the women who stay there.  It is a 10 bedroom maternity home program for women of any faith, or no faith at all.  The home program is for women over the age of 18, who may be in circumstances without family support, unemployed with little education or few job skills to support a child, or inaccessibility to social services.

Door Creek Volunteers

Many Door Creek members volunteer at Care Net and the Elizabeth House on a regular basis.  Sue Peterson is one of them.

She has been serving at Care Net for 2 years.  When asked why she participates in this ministry, she responds by saying “I have seen many desperate women walk through the door at Care Net and later leave with a changed heart and a sense of hope.” The opportunities for care and support offered to women in unplanned pregnancies encourage Sue to continue to be involved at Care Net.

How did Sue get  involved at Care Net?
Sue:  I saw the insert in the bulletin for the baby bottle campaign and was interested in what other areas there were to serve at Care Net.  At that point, I had the time in my life to volunteer, so I called and found out how to get connected.  I am a nurse and currently volunteer weekly at Care Net.  I work in the clinic testing, treating, and counseling clients.  I have also worked on publishing responsibilities, organizing policy and procedure for the clinic, as well as printing resource guides for patients.  Sometimes I work at the  reception desk.  Clients often come through the door desperate.  We sit down and talk with them about their options,Care Net offers them support through their Care Net packing gift bagsentire pregnancy.

How can others get involved?

 1.  There are a wide variety of opportunities at Care Net, including specific counseling and care provider roles, as well as receptionist tasks, and volunteering at the Elizabeth House.  For those more able to serve from home, there is the option of serving with the care line ministry.  Most volunteer needs tend to be one-on-one (counseling, reception): however, there are opportunities for groups to volunteer for special projects, such as cleaning opportunities.  There is a need for more male counselors as  well (to assist with planning for fatherhood and support.)

 2.   Who? Anyone with a heart for the population, and love for serving God’s people in need. There are opportunities for youth/teens to volunteer on special projects, although care providers and counselors are reserved for adult volunteers.

 3.   VOLUNTEER!  If your interested in volunteering regularly for Care Net, they usually request an 8 hr/month commitment.  To get  involved, please contact .

  A.  There is a simple application to fill out from Care Net.  Cassie Mott will see where your interests are and place you accordingly.  There is training required for counseling, reception, health care provider positions at Care Net .  Opportunities do arise for volunteers that do not require training.

  B.  Look in the bulletin for announcements about specific needs at Care Net and the Elizabeth House.  The annual baby bottle campaign, fund raisers, Care Net  annual “walk for life” are some of the ways anyone can volunteer to help.
