The current Special Feature: Looking at Lucado
For more than two decades Christian readers have benefited from the prolific pen of Max Lucado. An artistic talent for painting vivid word pictures has endeared him to a wide audience of readers. Works written for adults were birthed from sermons for his congregation at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as Senior Pastor for twenty years. He has been described as “America’s Best Preacher” by Readers Digest and “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today. Although he is stepping back from his duties as senior pastor due to health concerns, he plans to continue writing and filling the pulpit regularly.
His most recent book, 3:16 The Numbers of Hope, provides the inspiration for Pastor Marc’s September sermon series of the same name. The first section presents a slow and thoughtful examination of each phrase emphasizing the grace and hope this verse brings to the world.
An invitation to spend 40 days with Jesus is extended in the last portion of the book as the author highlights the major events in the life and ministry of the Messiah.
The DCC Library offers an extensive collection of Max Lucado’s works. His beautifully illustrated children’s books and videos featuring Hermie and his friends will be displayed in the Children’s Alcove. Adult offerings will comprise our “Special Feature” for the fall. If you’ve never read any of Lucado’s books or if you’ve read them all, you’ll want to stop by and check one out.
