Summer Reading Program Success!  

  The library was a hub of busy activity this summer as record numbers of books were checked in and out each week during the Wild About Reading program.

   Twenty-eight DCC kids, Grades K-5, completed the required reading and were eligible to hop on a school bus for a visit to Vilas Zoo.  Armed with sack lunches, sunscreen, and enthusiasm, the children and chaperones enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon watching the animals, riding the carousel, and playing in the tree house area.  Those unable to participate in the field trip received a wild animal beach ball as an alternate prize.

Summer Reading Favorites

   Several avid readers completed the Grade 6 – Adult summer reading emphasis.  They were encouraged to read six books and give feedback on their favorites.  Some of their choices were:
Mandie and the Secret Tunnel by Lois Gladys Leppard (Youth)
Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson (Teen)
The Preacher’s Daughter by Beverly Lewis
In Every Flower by Patti Hill
