What is AWANA? AWANA is a great youth program that combines fun with Scripture memory, songs and learning. AWANA is an international, non-denominational Bible-centered program. At Door Creek Church, we meet Wednesdays (September-May) from 6:25 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for children ages 3 (by 9/1) through 6th grade. Enrollment is open all club year. There are some fees associated with registration to cover the expenses of handbooks, uniforms, and awards.
AWANA is an acronym, which comes from the first letters of five words in the verse: "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed More information about AWANA can be found on their web site at: http://www.awana.org.

Why A Meeting Is Fun And How It Is Run There are three parts to each club night. Each part has a purpose, and all of the parts are fun. Game Time: Every kid gets involved each night and has a chance to unleash their energy. Special AWANA games as well as other favorites involve each kid in individual and team competition.
Handbook Time: Kids work one on one with an adult to complete assignments in the curriculum materials. AWANA emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible verses that show how to know God and walk with Him. A series of awards and trophies reward achievements as kids progress.
Council Time: Clubbers gather together for singing, announcements, award distribution, and most importantly, a practical Bible message. Parents are always welcome to visit the club to better understand what their child is involved in. Come and observe any time it is convenient for you. We can always use additional adult help, too. The Goal of AWANA Besides FUN, the goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. This is the end result, but the method is FUN! Since 1950, churches have used AWANA to reach and teach youth. AWANA teaches that God is real, that He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ. Kids also learn how God can help them in their daily lives. For frequently asked questions about the AWANA book system click here
