Why we do what we do!
The children's ministry of Door Creek Church exists to intentionally assist the family with each child's spiritual development, encouraging the formation of a lifelong relationship with God through Jesus Christ. All of children's ministry supports Door Creek's overall mission by laying a foundation of God's love and biblical truth in each child's heart. Children's Ministry is fulfilling Door Creek's mission in the younger population of the church.
Purposes and Life Change Relationships
- Reach - We introduce children to a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. God invites children to come to Him and to begin a lifelong friendship with Him. Children make friendships with other children who don't know Jesus, and learn to tell them about Him.
- Worship - We guide children in experiencing God's love and loving God through worship and learning about worship. God has ordained praise from children (Ps. 8:2), who learn to express their love for God and thankfulness for who He is and what He does. Children learn to express their love for and thankfulness to God by worshiping with other children and adults.
- Grow - We teach biblical content, concepts and values, encouraging children to discover the relevance and value of God's Word and apply it to their lives. Through key Bible stories and principles, God introduces Himself to children and how He wants them to live, and they learn to apply His Word to their daily living. Children are formed spiritually through relationships of individual spiritual attention with parents, other adults (CM shepherds) and friends.
- Serve - We provide opportunities for children to be involved in, receive and learn about biblical service. We also provide parents and guardians with meaningful tools for encouraging their child's spiritual development. God prepares children for future ministry through the interests, abilities and personalities He gives them, experiences He allows them to have, and current opportunities to serve others. In doing the work of the family in the home and serving others in the church or community, children learn that the God who meets their needs wants to also meet the needs of others through them.
