Children matter! They are important to God and so they matter to us!

Jesus showed His love for children by making time for them, holding and blessing them, and rebuking those who tried to keep them from coming to Him.

So, we want to help children come to know, love, and follow Jesus! We also want to partner with parents in their efforts to lead, train, and guide their children spiritually.

To these ends, our Children’s Ministry offers various caring, learning, and worshiping environments for children, birth-grade 5. Each ministry is provided by teams of screened and trained volunteers who love kids and want to make a difference in their lives.

You can learn more about each ministry by following the links to the left.

God’s Garden Help Needed

Parents, thanks to some of you are in order…for responding to the need for help and the opportunity to serve in God’s Garden this month. We have 4 weekends to go and there are still many volunteer needs and opportunities that exist. Remember, it takes 40 volunteers every weekend to be able to provide a safe, caring, and effective ministry for our little ones. If you have not yet served 2-3 times this summer, please email Wayne right now at to let us know when you can help. Remember that if we do not have adequate staffing, we will either close rooms or limit the number of children we take into a particular room. Our ratio in each room is as follows...

Ladybugs (infants):              1:2 (minimum 2 volunteers)                Caterpillars:                        1:4 (minimum 3 volunteers)
Butterflies:                          1:4 (minimum 3 volunteers)
Songbirds:                           1:5 (minimum 3 volunteers)
Leapfrogs:                           1:5 (minimum 3 volunteers)

Please consider this email as a personal ask. We really do need you. Please don't think that someone else will do it, which is a danger in a church our size. Also consider what a great opportunity this is for you. You can "go to church" with your child. You can experience what they experience in their ministry rooms. You can meet the other kids that your children are getting to know. You can meet other people and start or continue to get connected here at Door Creek. You can make it possible for a brand new parent apprehensively bringing their child to God's Garden to leave them in our care and freely worship and learn in the services upstairs. And as always, you can make a difference in the life of a child. All that in one hour this weekend.

If you have KidJam kids only, this might be an opportunity for you to serve together as a family.

Here are the service times and weekend dates for the rest of the summer. Please respond today to let us know when you can help.

                 5:30pm, 9am or 10:45 am on:
                August 14/15
                August 21/22
                August 28/29
                September 4/5

Again, a HUGE thank you to you parents who have responded and signed up to serve with us in God’s Garden this summer. We are grateful.

Join the Children’s Ministry Team

As we continue to create our volunteer teams for the new ministry year this fall, we’d like to invite you to prayerfully consider joining one of our teams and serving our kids with us this next year. God can use you to make an eternal difference in the lives of children through Door Creek’s ministry to them. There are many different ways you can serve them…the obvious ones being as a teacher. “shepherd” (small group leader), or Caregiver…and the not-so-obvious ones being in the areas of greeting, security, set up/take down, supplies prep, singing, acting, organizing, team leading, etc. You can help out once in a while, a few times a month, or every week. You can serve on a Tuesday or Saturday night or Sunday morning. If you would like more information, please contact Wayne or Candy at the church office.

DeForest Site

In mid-February, DCC hopes to launch a new site in the DeForest area with Pastor Bob Goodsell as the Campus Pastor.  If you are interested in learning more about the DeForest site or being a part of the exciting process of launching a new site, please watch the bulletin and website for more info in the upcoming weeks. We will offer God’s Garden and KidJam at this new service.

Life Stage Ministry

You may have seen this term being used in relationship to Children’s Ministry in the last few months.  The Life Stage Ministry became the umbrella ministry of our ministries from ages 0-120 when we re-organized the ministries and staff in February 2010.  The goal of the integration is to promote more family growth opportunities and further develop transitional ministries for those that are crossing from one age-based ministry to another.  For this year upcoming school year, programs are being moved (Awana, Rock, Extreme) in order to take a step toward more integration and in an attempt to help simplify ministry schedules for families.   A representative parent group, one from each Life Stage group will be created to provide guidance and input to the Life Stage leadership team.  Life Stage realizes that they are not the end, but a tool to equip and empower families to be spiritual leaders.
